The Mountains Are Calling

If you’re reading this right when it posts, I’ll be on a plane flying to Denver in preparation for the Under Armour Copper Mountain 50K!

I can honestly say I’m both excited and nervous about this race, and about visiting Denver again for the first time in two years (how has it been so long??).

So what does my week look like? I’m arriving on Tuesday to give my body a chance to remember what altitude is like, and to catch up with some friends. And, you know, run my favorite things, and eat my favorite things.

Let’s talk about those things. Where will I be running, and where will I be eating?

For running, I have every intention of arriving, getting my rental car (which I have yet to reserve as of this writing) and driving over to Red Rocks to run the amphitheater. This might be my favorite workout of all time because of where it is. Plus, it’s a solid 5 miles!

What I’m most excited about, though, is finally going down to tackle The Incline. Since I found out about this, it has been a bucket list of mine, but I’ve never gotten the chance to get after it. That changes this week! I don’t know what to expect here (other than quad and lung searing pain), but I’m stoked.

My other run before Copper Mountain is a toss up. There are a couple areas I’d like to re-explore in nicer weather, so those are in consideration. It’ll be a snap decision!

Now for eating. I’ve got two places that are must eats in Denver. Henry’s Tavern on 16th was a restaurant I discovered on accident when my favorite (which I’ll get to in a minute) was closed. One of the best accidents ever! Great food and ever better beer.

My favorite of all time in Denver is Tom’s Urban (which actually has locations in LA and Vegas too). My go to is the Bean Burger. Literally the best Bean Burger I’ve ever had!

Oh, and I hope to take in a Rockies game as well.

If you can’t tell, I’m super jazzed about this trip! Be on the lookout #OnTheGram for pictures of my various adventures.

Hope I don’t die.
