Why the Spartan Scares Me

Disclaimer: I received free entry to the Spartan Stadium Sprint: Toyota Park as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review and write race reviews!

Ok, so I’ve had headlines similar to this for a bunch of BibRave races this summer. But the Spartan is a little different.

I’ve have friends who have done Spartan, Tough Mudder, etc. But I’ve never really jumped at these races. I’ve always said that I’d prefer 10 miles of roads to 3 miles of obstacles.

And yet, here we are closing in on a Spartan race, and my upper body is not ready. My legs might not be either with this coming two weeks after Chicago.

As a planner, I’ve tried to find lots of information on the Stadium version of the Spartan. There isn’t much out there. With the exception of one Sports Illustrated article that told me the Stadium might be harder than the regular Sprint. Neat.

Will my arms fall off? Will I survive? We’ll find out on October 20
