Ok everyone, not gonne lie, my excitement level is through the roof for this weekend at the Shamrock Shuffle.
First of all, the weather for this weekend in Chicago looks immaculate. Lows in the 40s and highs in the 50s? Per.Fect. That also means I can bust out the green shorts for race day.
As I mentioned in my training recap, I’m really going to come after the Shuffle this year. My 8k PR is relatively soft (technically my fastest 8k is the first 8k of my 10k PR), and you may remember I almost accidentally ran a PR at the Shuffle last year.
This year, the plan is to go for it using the same strategy I used at the Chicago Marathon. Effectively using my watch as a stopwatch, and taking manual laps since the city destroys GPS watches.
However, this past Saturday I got even more excited. Why? I learned (and I don’t know how I missed this) that the Shuffle is also running a Mile race on Saturday. I oddly enjoy the pain of the Mile, and signed myself up.
Will I embarrass myself? Probably. But how many chances do you get to hammer an all out mile with competition?
Basically, it’s going to be a great weekend of running in the city.
